Is surgical incisional hernia repair possible?

Granted; my hernia was surgically induced; perhaps by internal stitching which failed a year and a half after the surgery which removed 10 inches of cancerous colon. My surgeon said if it doesn't bother me to leave it alone. From patients who have had mesh procedures; that is not the answer. One said the mesh became infected and had to be removed, and upon removal the hernia was almost healed. This raises the question of bodily healing. If the herniated area can be aggravated; say with an aggressive acupuncture procedure over a period of time; would this not encourage the area to heal internally? Comments, please!
